About the event

The BIPOC Sustainability Collective and Connecting Environmental Professionals have partnered to host this networking event during GLOBE Forum week 2024. The event will offer the chance to connect with our networking community and explore themes on diversifying and empowering our workforce in the environmental sector. Meet other BIPOC sustainability professionals from all experience levels and areas of the sector.

Join us at the BCIT Downtown Campus located at 555 Seymour Street. The event will kick off at 4:00pm as the official GLOBE Forum program ends.

We’ll have a selection of beverages (non-alcoholic) and food served. The event begins with guided group conversations and a few short words of welcome from the event hosts. Attendees will have the remainder of the evening free for open networking.

Event Hosts

This event is hosted by Connecting Environmental Professionals and the BIPOC Sustainability Collective.

CEP Vancouver is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to creating connection, inspiration and education for Vancouver's young and emerging sustainability and impact professionals.

The BIPOC Sustainability Collective fosters a capacity-building community for BIPOC professionals and activists to connect and seek peer support while navigating largely white environmentalist spaces on the West Coast. We aim to build a support system, resources, and sense of community among BIPOC working in sustainability, climate action, and environment. We know that one of the most effective ways to move up in organizations and make meaningful change is to have strong, reciprocal and supportive networks. Especially when it’s not always possible to find allies within the organizations we work in. Connect with our members online and at our events!

Accessibility

The venue building is accessible at street level on Seymour St. The main event space is located on the second floor - accessible by a wide central staircase, or elevators from the lobby. Accessible parking is limited in the downtown area, however there is an underground public pay parking garage directly below the BCIT campus.

If you are arriving from the GLOBE Forum, we recommend walking east down Cordova St. and turning up Seymour St. to arrive at the venue.

The venue is also accessible from other areas of Vancouver via public transit on the expo line skytrain (Granville Station), bus lines (4,16, 19, 250), and other buses that travel via downtown.

If you have any other accessibility needs or questions please email BIPOCSustainability(at)gmail.com
